Dr. Silver now focuses on cancer education and personalized cancer coaching for people who want to better understand their diagnosis, tumor biology, relevant testing, and the treatment approaches that may be discussed with their oncology team. A cancer coaching consultation provides personalized education about your cancer, its biology, molecular testing, and potential treatment approaches.
Cancer is not one disease. Two people with the same cancer diagnosis may have very different molecular characteristics, genetic mutations, treatment sensitivities, risks, and therapeutic options. The purpose of a cancer coaching consultation is to help you understand those differences in a clear and organized way.

What Happens During a Cancer Coaching Consultation
During a cancer coaching consultation, Dr. Silver may review your diagnosis, pathology, imaging, laboratory findings, and available molecular information. The discussion may include cancer biology, molecular pathways, next generation sequencing, genetic testing, circulating tumor DNA, circulating tumor cells, liquid biopsy, tumor mutational burden, microsatellite instability, mismatch repair, PD-L1, hormone receptors, HER2 status, BRCA and other actionable mutations when relevant.
The consultation may also discuss how conventional cancer treatments work, including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, antibody drug conjugates, and other therapies that may be appropriate for discussion with your treating oncologist.
When relevant, Dr. Silver may also provide education about integrative approaches to cancer care. These discussions may include nutrition, metabolic health, vitamins, minerals, supplements, botanical compounds, repurposed medications, immune support, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, and emerging therapies being studied in cancer research. The purpose is to help you understand the scientific rationale, the available evidence, potential limitations, possible interactions, and questions you may wish to discuss with your own physicians.
Dr. Silver may also discuss functional and advanced testing that attempts to provide additional information about treatment sensitivity, cancer associated cells, chemotherapy response, molecular targets, or other individualized characteristics of a tumor. These tests may be useful in selected situations, but they do not replace standard pathology, imaging, molecular testing, or the judgment of your treating oncologist.
Cancer coaching may also help you better understand traditional cancer treatments, including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, and immunotherapy. The National Cancer Institute provides detailed information about established cancer treatments.
A cancer coaching consultation is designed to help you become better informed. It may help you understand why a treatment has been recommended, what additional questions you may want to ask, what testing may be worth discussing, and what areas of published cancer research may be relevant to your situation.
Cancer coaching is not a substitute for oncology care.
Dr. Silver does not diagnose cancer, prescribe treatment, manage chemotherapy, change medications, order treatment, or replace your oncologist through this service. Decisions regarding diagnosis, treatment, medications, surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, supplements, or other interventions must be made with your treating physicians.
The information provided during a cancer coaching consultation and on this website is for educational purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or prescribing. No physician patient relationship is created through this website, email communication, educational content, social media, or a cancer coaching consultation.
You should always discuss any medical decision, medication, supplement, diagnostic test, treatment change, or cancer therapy with your own licensed treating physician or oncology team.
Dr. Silver’s role is to help you understand the science, the terminology, the available testing, the treatment concepts, and the questions that may help you participate more effectively in decisions about your care.
